Why it can happen
Repeated movements such as frowning, smiling and squinting fold the skin. These movement-related, or dynamic, lines can gradually become visible at rest. With age, changes in collagen and elastin reduce the skin’s firmness and ability to spring back. Sun exposure and smoking can accelerate these changes, while dryness can make fine lines more noticeable. Genetics and changes in facial support also influence where wrinkles develop.
