Understanding the concern

Brow position,
carefully assessed.

A lower brow can make the upper-eye area appear heavier or change the shape of the eyes. This may develop gradually with age, while some people naturally have a lower brow position. Emma assesses the brow and eyelid together to understand what is contributing before recommending treatment.

What you may notice
  • A lower brow, especially towards the outer edge
  • Heaviness above the upper eyelid
  • Less visible space between the brow and eyelid
  • Raising your forehead to make the area feel more open
01

Why it can happen

Changes in skin elasticity and the tissues supporting the brow can alter its position over time. A low brow, excess eyelid skin and a drooping eyelid are different issues, although they may occur together. Identifying which is present helps avoid recommending a treatment that cannot address the cause.

02

How we assess it

Emma looks at brow height, symmetry, forehead movement and the upper eyelids. Your history, previous treatments and any symptoms affecting vision are important. Where eyelid function or vision is involved, assessment by an appropriate medical specialist may be needed.

03

Options we may discuss

Sofwave is a non-invasive ultrasound treatment that may provide a modest eyebrow lift in suitable patients. Changes develop gradually and the result varies. It is not a correction for every type of eyelid droop and cannot remove excess skin. More pronounced brow descent or eyelid concerns may be better addressed through a specialist surgical consultation.

04

Important to know

The aim is a realistic improvement appropriate to your anatomy. Suitability, discomfort, potential side effects and alternatives are discussed before treatment. A sudden new brow or eyelid droop needs prompt medical assessment, particularly with headache, double vision or unequal pupils. Sudden facial weakness or speech difficulty is an emergency.

This information is general and is not a diagnosis. New, changing, bleeding or otherwise concerning skin lesions should be assessed by an appropriate medical professional.
